The Fire and Police Pension System of the City of Los Angeles (LAFPP) is seeking proposals
from qualified firms to provide private equity investment advisory services. LAFPP manages an
$11 billion fund with a 10% allocation to private equity. The Systems private equity program
began in 1996. To date the program has committed approximately $1.9 billion to over 180
separate partnerships managed by over 85 General Partner groups. The current equity value of
committed capital is approximately $600 million. The programs investments are well-diversified
across traditional (or core) private equity investment types (venture, buyout and special
situations) by vintage year and by sector and industry. The program also has a specialized
private equity component targeting commitments to first-time funds, smaller funds focused on
specific geographic or demographic sectors, or funds managed by emerging General Partners.
