Protection and Advocacy, Inc. (PAI) is a nonprofit advocacy agency mandated to advance the human and legal rights of persons who have disabilities. PAI opened its doors in 1978 and has since grown into a statewide organization with offices in Sacramento, Oakland, Los Angeles and San Diego, satellite offices in 20 other locations, and over 200 employees.
PAI receives funding from federal and state grants, donations and court-awarded fees. We do not charge our clients for services. Our website, http://www.pai-ca.org, is a source of disability-related legal information and updates, provides important contact information for clients and advocates, and conveys our organizational identity.
