Purpose of this amendment is to provide clarification of the scope of work after the site visit.

During the site visit it was discussed that the Park would remove the "waysides", i.e., informational displays and then replace them in their existing locations and the Contractor would need to protect the sleeves they're placed in. This was incorrect in one aspect. As discussed on page 2 of the scope of work, the first "wayside" will be removed completely so the Contractor can widen the trail allowing people to view the "wayside" without blocking the trail. The last paragraph on page 2 of the scope of work discusses what that would look like and the attached photograph an example from the other trail projects.

Also, page 4 of the scope of work discusses providing a means to anchor the cannon shown on page 5. Following discussions during the site visit it was determined the Contractor would provide something similar to a 1" bar with a 3/4" eye loop at the top of it. The top of the eye loop shall be approximately 8" to 9" above the finished sidewalk grade. The bar shall be anchored in the sidewalk and extend another 4" below where a small 12" diameter, 6" deep "footing" shall be included under the sidewalk itself to help anchor it. The final length of the bar shall be 12" to 14" to the top of the eye loop. Final length and size shall be determined on site with the Park. This set up will allow the Park to install some type of locking mechanism through the eye loop to secure the cannon from being moved.

If you have any additional questions, please contact Jim Sohan, james_sohan@nps.gov, 210-534-8875 x 245. E-mail is the best route because he's out of the office fairly frequently this time of the year where cellphone service is intermittent.

Also please disregard the Hazardous Materials Identification Listing form that should not have been included in this solicitation package.

In the solicitation there is mention of a past performance form, which has now been added to this solicitation please complete and include in your request for quote package.

The National Park Service, Intermountain Region, Santa Fe Major Acquisition Buying Office, has issued a Request for Quotation (RFQ) to resurface Mexican Battleline Trail and Backfill and Grade Trail Edges at Palo Alto Battlefield National Historical Park, Brownsville, Texas.

The work consists of all labor, materials and equipment to remove and dispose
of the existing 4 inch asphalt trail surface and replace with a 4 inch concrete trail surface/sidewalk. The main problem with the existing trail is excessive cracking and aging of the existing 4 inch asphalt trail surface. The trail is 5-feet wide. There are NO culverts, boardwalks, etc., that need to be removed or worked around.

The Mexican Battleline Trail is approximately 945 linear feet in length with a 40 foot diameter turnaround at the far end of the trail. There is also a side trail approximately 26 linear feet in length with a 14 foot diameter turnaround at the end of it.
