The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration, Technology and Science Division (GIPSA TSD) operates a laboratory in a privately-owned building at 10383 North Ambassador Drive, Kansas City, Missouri 64153. This is a fixed price order.
GIPSA uses NMR instruments in the official inspection system to certify the oil content of sunflowerseed. GIPSA customers use the certified oil content of sunflower seeds to determine both product acceptability and pricing. For over 20 years, GIPSA has approved the use of the NMR models allowed for official inspection certification. There are currently three models on the GIPSA Approved Equipment List, (http://www.gipsa.usda.gov/Publications/fgis/handbooks/equipment/apprlist-a.pdf). GIPSA TSD must maintain a working model of one of the approved instrument models in order to calibrate, standardize, provide quality control oversight, and provide appeal inspection certification for the U.S. official grain inspection system.
