Nuclear Gauge Maintenance
These nuclear gauges are used by trained personnel that work for the DOT and private contractors who have been trained in the
safe operation on state road projects daily. They are a multi purpose tool used to determine the densities on aggregate base coarse
(stone) and asphalt. We are requesting that these gauges be put out for bid for there annual calibration, repair, and service with a
certificate of calibration included. The blocks used for calibration must be N.I.S.T. traceable and all work conducted by a licensed
facility. The DOT will be responsible for the pickup and delivery of the gauges as long as a local vendor is doing the work. We also
reserve the right to inspect the facility which is chosen to do the work and make sure they are complying to all standards. Each of
the three local companies listed below knows the proper procedures and regulations governing the repair, service and calibration
standards for these gauges. We request they be notified when the bid is let.
The period of this contract shall be from the date of award and continue for one (1) year with the option at the agencys discretion to
renew for two (2) additional years in one year intervals.
