The Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA) is looking to build a new relational database to support its product certification program for locks, closers, exit devices and other builders hardware. Building a relational database is the first step in offering all industry stakeholders a fully functional online resource that offers users:
-Improved searchability including by search by model, test grades, type and function, test dates, test expiry, finishes, brand
- Comparisons of various product types across the categories above
- Consistent quality of the listings established through data requirements
- Automated communication to manufacturers and administrators of test expiry or new/updated product certification requirements
In addition database users will include manufacturing engineers and other personnel who would enter specified data; test lab personnel who may "approve" or "reject" a listing; and BHMA staff responsible for reviewing and "certifying", some data entry, triggering communications including billing, de-activating listings with expired testing.
