Native American Flutes
The University intends to issue a multi-year contract for the provision of hand-made Native American Flutes.
The University is one of few, if not the only, University to provide an Introduction and History of the Native American Flute course. This course is offered throughout the year and focuses on Cultural Diversity and Individual Musical Self-Expression by examining Native American Cultures surrounding the Native American Flute and how they may apply to other cultures and contemporary societies. As part of the curriculum, students receive a hand-made Native American Flute and learn how to play very old traditional Native American songs on it. They also learn how to express themselves by creating original music on the flutes. The students will play together in groups (up to 80 people) and through "Oral Traditional" and technical lectures, they learn about the history and culture of Native Americans.
