NEXT GENERATION (NGEN) PUBLIC SAFETY VOICE & DATA RADIO SYSTEM
The County of Monterey and participating agencies (hereinafter referred to as County) are
seeking qualified proposers (hereinafter referred to as Proposers) to provide bids for upgrading
the existing public safety voice and data radio systems throughout the County into a regional
integrated voice and data network. This new network, called the Next Generation (hereinafter
referred to as NGEN) Radio System, will support public safety and public service
communications throughout the County including all of its cities and a number of special
districts. The project is expected to meet the established requirements for FCC narrow banding, Homeland
Security goals and guidelines, while providing a SAFECOM Level 5 interoperable network, as
well as connectivity to surrounding counties.
