DFAS I&T Infrastructure Production and Support (IPS) requires the purchase of hardware and software to upgrade our end of life Quantum tape libraries to a vendor supported version to protect against data loss and system failures, and to provide IPS with new capabilities to achieve greater efficiencies in managing network shares and subdirectories at a more granular level in the DFAS classified network. The Quantum Scalar tape libraries are an essential component of our backup systems. These tape libraries are used to protect against data loss, system failures, and must be continually refreshed and reengineered to support mission data protection requirements to provide performance, capacity enhancements, and to ensure system compatibly. The NTP Software centralizes monitoring and reporting of data statistics and growth trends, and offers more granular control options for data growth, resulting in cost savings.
