Museum Shop management

The Department is seeking proposals for the Museum Shop at the State Museum. The eligible applicants must have at least five (5) years of experience in operating retail establishments in museums or other cultural institutions. A cultural institution is a museum, historical society, nature center, zoo, botanic garden, arboretum or aquarium. This experience must include at least one of the applicant’s sites experiencing in excess of $2.3 million in gross sales over a five (5) year period. The contract resulting from this RFP will be for the period July 1, 2011- June 30, 2016.
A mandatory bidder's conference will be held at 9:00 AM on two dates, February 23, 2011 and March 2, 2011, at the New York State Museum, in the Member Lounge located on the 1st Floor. Attendance by a bidder representative on either date will satisfy the mandatory attendance requirement. The Museum is located in the Cultural Education Center on Madison Avenue in Albany, New York.
