SOW for Model Based Systems Engineering Training Courses
Background: NAVAIR is implementing a Systems Engineering Transformation (SET) initiative in order to address increasing acquisition cycle time and complexity. The increase in acquisition cycle time is driven by the exponential growth in System Complexity, system of systems connectivity and security. SET is a formalization of systems modeling for the entire acquisition cycle to include specifications, design and development, manufacturing, integration, test, deployment, operation and support.
Requirement:
1. Course offerings that will cover the following:
· Architecture and how to understand complex systems and manage complexity.
· Learn how to analyze complex models with an objective-driven perspective and decipher between the right and wrong environments for model implementation. Understand what types of models exist in engineering and how they can be organized into an overall taxonomy. Understand the basic principles of combining subsystem models together into a system model in a multidisciplinary computational environment and learn the basic principles of verifying and validating models.
· Learn the intent, representations, and functions of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). Distinguish the differences between MBSE and traditional systems engineering, such as a document based approach. Identify the core tenants of MBSE and the situations in which it is recommended. Understand the intent and basic structure of a SysML and interpret a simple SysML model.
· Learn the fundamentals of quantitative methods in systems engineering and determine when, where, and how to employ these methods and techniques. The curriculum provides learners with an overview of design space exploration using models, as well as methods for analyzing and presenting the output of a model. A number of trade space models will be presented and exercised as case studies.
2. Provide training for 130 employees via two online programs (65 students each) that require approximately 4 hours per week of students’ time
3. Course length 4 months each
4. Courses provided by a recognized educational institution
5. Certificate provided at successful completion of courses
