Moakley Fire Stop Question and Answer

1. If the vendor runs into areas without first stopping what do they need to do?
A: Since the first step in this project is for winning contractor to do a complete survey and provide detailed design submittal for approval by DRI and GSA, the action taken would be to install fire stopping assembly as per the Approved design submittal.

2. Are there any requirements for containment of materials when drilling and completing construction?
A: This is explained in detail in the GSA master specifications in the google drive for this requirement.
If you have not already requested access to the Google drive please see the solicitation for instruction on how to get a GSA gmail account. Once you have received a GSA gmail account please submit the email address to Erin.McIntyre@gsa.gov to be added to the google drive. You will need to check your new email address for the google share link.

3. What work will be required to be completed during normal business hours and what work would be required to be completed after business hours?
A: if they're doing anything that is high noise or would physically interfere with tenant activities, it would need to be performed outside of normal working hours. If they're working in GSA-controlled spaces without high noise (eg, MEP areas), then they can work during the day without issue.

4. Is there perimeter containment included in this requirement?
I believe this was not included in the SOW.
A: Perimeter fire stop is mentioned in the solicitation in option E. Please see option E page 9. Option E:Shall include the perimeter Fire Barrier System between a rated floor and roof and an exterior wall assembly. See Appendix H depicting these locations.

5. What are the qualifications for this project?
Fire-stopping shall be installed by an FM 4991 Approved Firestop Contractor and/or UL Qualified Firestop Contractor. The installer shall issue to AHJ or Owner a Certificate of Conformance confirming that the work has been carried out in accordance with specifications.

6. Do I have to carry a third party destructive testing agent thorough the project?
A: No. between your DRI and GSA FPE, we hope to severely limit destructive testing of newly installed assemblies. Destructive entry into the space between the Moakley and The Daily Catch must be done to determine what needs to be done to return that separation to two hours.

7. Does perimeter fire stop include roof?
A: No we will be addressing roof perimeter fire stop at next roof replacement.

8. Are all these corridors rated?
A: Check drawings and realize that egress pathways where jurors egress should be smoke tight. A list of locations from the 2010 and 2016 surveys are now available but realize this is in no way an all-inclusive list.

9. Is fire tape required part of this project?
A: Yes

10. Is patching SFRM required?
A: Yes

11. Period of performance is only 365 days?
A: The project is broken up into different phases, if the final bit of work is funded on day 364, then that initiates a change in the date that work needs to be completed
