The Midwest Region of the National Wildlife Refuge System manages the Challenge Cost Share Grant program for the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Ohio, Indiana, Missouri and Illinois. The Midwest Region invites the submission of proposals in support of natural resource management which benefits National Wildlife Refuge System lands and programs, especially those which address invasive species control, habitat restoration and improving visitor services on National Wildlife Refuge System facilities. These proposals are done in partnership with a USFWS field office such as a National Wildlife Refuge or Wetland Management District office. Successful applicants will have at least 50% of project costs covered by non-federal funds. The CCS program is an annual funding source; therefore the objectives identified in the proposals selected for award must be completed no later than September 30, 2007. Proposals must be developed in partnership with a Midwest Region USFWS field office (see http://www.fws.gov/midwest/ for locations)and submitted by close of business on December 1, 2006 to: Dan Sobieck, Midwest Region Challenge Cost Share Grant Program Coordinator, USFWS, 1 Federal Drive, Fort Snelling, MN 55111.
