The majority of all prescription medication used in the Jail is generic. The only time nongenerics
are used, is when there is not a generic available.
The County Jail has an average daily lockup population of 335 inmates. This
includes adults and juveniles. The maximum number of lock‐up inmates that could be in the Jail
is approximately 370 at 80% occupancy. This proposal would be to supply all prescription and
over the counter medication to the lockup inmates.
All prescriptions shall be in blister packs with the inmate name on the pack. All over the
counter medication shall be in individual dose packs. There shall be stock of over the counter
medicine that is kept on‐site.
With refills, same day service is not required. However, at times same day service may be
required to fill urgent orders. This may be done by a subcontracted pharmacy. Provide
information in your proposal regarding how orders are placed and what the standard delivery
time and method are. In addition, provide information how urgent same day orders are placed,
filled and delivered (or if County needs to pick up). All delivery charges shall be
included in the cost.
The 2009 average monthly prescription medication expense is approximately $6,200.
We are seeking a lump sum annual cost to supply all medication required, regardless of inmate
population. We are seeking an initial 23 month contract. There will be the option of three oneyear
renewals with mutually agreed upon terms. The initial contract shall commence on
February 1, 2010 and continue through December 31, 2011. As you will see on the pricing
form, you will price one lump sum for February 1, 2010 December 31, 2010 and one lump
sum for January 1, 2011 December 31, 2011. No medical supplies are requested under this
contract.
