Mechanical design services for injected molded enclosure for breath switch and functional prototypes
The contractor shall develop and manufacture a USB Breath Switch in accordance with section C of this solicitation. The contractor shall provide mechanical design services to design an enclosure, filter and mouth tube for electronic components of the USB Breath Switch. These components translate pulses of air from a user's mouth into commands for the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS) digital talking-book machine. The design package of the electronic components and the firmware will be provided to the contractor by NLS. The enclosure shall accommodate a connection for a tube to the user's mouth, a USB type A male connection and a visible LED on the top of the enclosure. The mouth tube shall contain an in-line filter to protect the electronics from moisture. The design shall be compatible with common injection molding technology. The design is subject to approval by NLS. The contractor shall provide 20 fully functional prototypes based on the approved design.
