Background
The Carmel Redevelopment Commission (CRC) is charged with the responsibility of undertaking effective redevelopment of property, primarily in the center of the City of Carmel, Indiana. It is engaged in public/private partnerships in which parcels of land, either vacant or those containing underutilized buildings, are developed to their highest and best use.
Much of the CRCs work is concentrated in an area bounded by Carmel Drive on the south, 8th Street, N.E. (also known as Smokey Row Road and 136th Street) on the north, 4th Avenue on the east and 4th Avenue on the west, although projects have been, and may continue to be, undertaken outside of that geographic area.
Three very important parts of the CRCs work are the Carmel Arts and Design District in Old Town; the City Center project, southwest of the intersection of Rangeline and City Center Drive; and the Grammercy project, southwest of the intersection of 126th Street and Keystone Avenue.
1.2 Goal
It is the goal of the CRC, through the development of an integrated marketing communications plan and the execution of this plan, to be able to help ensure the economic viability of each of the areas noted above. We wish to protect and foster the near, medium and long-term business prospects of these areas with special concentration on the Arts and Design District. For 2008 and beyond marketing communications strategy and tactics should be, primarily, focused on the Arts and Design District with tactics and strategies designed to build and sustain retail traffic in the District.
