Objectives:
1. Develop ELISA assays using whole salivary gland extract from An. albimanus and An. darlingi to detect salivary IgG antibody levels in humans.
2. Validate the ELISA assays by comparing the salivary IgG antibody levels against An. darlingi and An. albimanus from reference serum specimens from healthy subjects, asymptomatic and symptomatic malaria patients from areas where An. darlingi and An. albimanus are the principal malaria vectors.
3. Identify the most immunogenic salivary protein in salivary gland extracts from An. albimanus and An. darlingi.
4. Characterize the immune response against the main immunogenic salivary proteins in reference specimens.
