The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is responsible for conducting acquisitions in support of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). NIOSH has a requirement for hardware and software maintenance for its Virtual Immersive Simulation Laboratory (VISLab).

The CDC intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Mechdyne Corporation (Mechdyne) in order to satisfy the requirement. This will be a follow-on contract to provide uninterrupted maintenance and warranties of the hardware and software that was designed, integrated, and installed, and thereafter maintained, modified, and upgraded by Mechdyne. Propriety software was developed by Mechdyne to control various components (some of which are of custom design) of the display and audio systems. The technical specifications for the system were developed by Mechdyne which includes custom designed hardware.

This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit quotations.
