The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Gaithersburg Radiation Safety Division (GRSD) is responsible for radiation protection and regulatory compliance matters for NIST's radioactive materials license at the NIST Gaithersburg, MD campus. As part of managing the radiation safety program, GRSD utilizes handheld radiation detection equipment for measuring radioactive contamination on surfaces. These consist of portable, battery operated survey meters coupled with detectors capable of detecting alpha and beta radiation on a surface. NIST GRSD intends to acquire replacement parts for the Alpha/Beta Radiation Detectors -manufactured by Ludlum Measurements Incorporated. Atlantic Nuclear Corporation is the only authorized reseller of Ludlum Measurements Inc., equipment for the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states. NIST intends to procure the Ludlum replacement parts on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR Subpart 13.106-1(b), Soliciting from a Single Source.

Interested parties that believe they could satisfy the requirements listed above for NIST to provide the Ludlum Measurements Inc., Alpha/Beta handheld contamination survey replacement equipment must clearly identify their capability to do so in writing on or before July 30, 2019 at 3:00 pm Eastern time. This notice of intent is not a solicitation. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether competitive procedures could be used for this acquisition.
