Load Weight Collection Program Development
The Department is evaluating a new
pavement design procedure. As part of this procedure, a statewide Load Spectra Program for gathering
data is required and will be developed. In particular, a statewide data collection plan will be produced, which
considers the existing data collection system and provides for expansion into a future statewide data collection
program that is optimized for use with the design method. The collection plan will:
Address both hardware and software requirements
Address who would be processing and reporting the data, including quality control
Determine the users of the data including the Department and other state agencies and their requirements
Include research for and recommend optimal sampling, balancing data needs in pavement design, cost
and number of collection sites, and types of equipment used in obtaining the data
