The lighting instruction/training services cover residential/commercial/industrial technologies, equipment, and systems. The lighting instruction/training services will be for building science customers, including but not limited to architects, engineers, lighting designers, government/code officials, and similar professionals within the greater Sacramento Valley region. Proposals targeted to residential customers will also be considered, yet proposals targeting building science professionals will be provided higher consideration.

Proposals may focus on a specific lighting component or set of lighting components including but not limited to the following: lighting theory, controls, lamps, ballasts, luminaires, emerging technologies, lighting & energy efficiency, relevant lighting energy codes, lighting design & applications, lighting and health, calculations, lighting for specific areas such as hospitals, classrooms, exterior, etc, and daylighting. A lighting instructor should have a working understanding of the current lighting systems, current California codes, regional/state/national regulatory statutes, emerging trends, operations with respect to occupant needs, applicable energy efficiency principles, safety concerns, maintenance issues, etc. A lighting instructor must be able to perform and possess specific knowledge as follows:

1)A high level of knowledge of lighting principles, systems, and technologies, with regard to both general and specific area of expertise.

2)Working knowledge in related areas of expertise.

3)Multiple cases of experience speaking and/or teaching lighting topics to groups of different sizes. This experience should demonstrate an ability to manage an audience, communicate to many individuals with broad foundations of knowledge, effectively answer attendee questions, and prepare and execute training sessions.

4)Five references, with names and contact info, for past speaking or teaching events.

5)Provide a detailed description of proposed course(s), including content and in-depth course details.
