The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Clinical Center (CC) Department of Laboratory Medicine (DLM), intends to award a fixed price purchase order to Roche Diagnostics Corp. Indianapolis, IN 46250 to procure reagent kits for the LightCycler® Nano instrument for the use of patient care testing.
This instrument platform runs approximately 25 different PCR assays in the Microbiology Service to meet the needs of specific PCR molecular testing. In order to support the demands derived from patient care and research testing, we must have enough resources on hand to support the increasing workload. Without an adequate supply of the necessary proprietary reagent kits and supplies, we would not be able to provide critical PCR results in a timely and usable manner.
The proposed vendor, Roche Diagnostics, Corp., is the sole manufacturer, vendor, and service provider for the LightCycler®. The system is not sold by any distributors or other third parties. The LightCycler® has proven reliability and offers the flexibility to run our PCR assays. These are the only supplies that will fit into the testing LightCycler® instrument and any other supply or service could cause the cancellation of the protocol/delays in completion of the protocol.
The following Roche LightCycler® Nano reagent kits and associated quality control material and instrument supplies are required:
UNG, 500 U
Lightcycler FastStart DNA MasterPLUS HybProbe
Lightcycler Capillaries
LightCycler Control Kit DNA
The acquisition is being conducted using policies unique to the acquisition of commercial items prescribed in FAR Part 12, in conjunction with the policies and procedures for the competition requirements of FAR part 6.302-1.
