LCLS-II Cryo Install - Tank Farm Foundation


Provide construction services for: 


GHe Tank and LN2 Dewar (aka LN2 Tank) Foundations per attachments 1, 2, 3 and the notes below.


 •1.       Services shall be in accordance with attachments 5 and 6 as referenced / required by this document and Attachments 1, 2 and 3.

•2.      All steel exposed to the weather shall be galvanized.  Grind off galvanize at welds, repair at exposed welds.

•3.      As indicated on 79120-0050 (Attachment 3), the 28', 14', 60" and 20" GHe Tank dimensions shall be considered verified.

•4.      As indicated on 79120-0050, the 45'-8", 16', 25.125", 20" and 16" LN2 Tank dimensions shall be considered coordinated / verified.  The fixed and floating saddle locations shall be considered verified.

•5.      Services shall include disposal of excavated compacted fill and rock.

•6.      Services exclude GHe and LN2 Tank Installation and the associated materials, including

•a.       Shim plates (i.e. the plates between the tank saddle and 1" shear plates)

•b.      Non-shrink grout beneath the tank saddles

•c.       Plate washers and double nuts above the tank saddle

•d.      Welds between the 1" shear plates and the tank saddle (GHe Tanks, LN2 Tank Fixed Saddle)    

•e.       Welds between the 1" shear plates and shims (LN2 Tank Floating Saddle)

•f.        2.5" Shear Blocks (LN2 Tank Floating Saddle)

•g.       Welds between the shear plates and the shear blocks (LN2 Tank Floating Saddle)


 Tank Farm Pipe Support, LN2 Fill Station and GHe Fill Stations Foundations per attachment 1 and the notes below.


 •1.       Contractor shall provide twenty three (23) foundations per Detail B2 in Attachment 1.  A specific location for each footing will be provided by the Owner prior to the start of work.

•2.      The ground shall be excavated / prepared and the foundations constructed / installed in accordance with attachments 5 and 6.

•3.      All materials shall be provided by the Contractor.

•4.      A Third Party Inspection Agency (contracted by the Owner) shall perform required special inspections.  Contractor shall inform agency of installation schedule and make the provisions necessary for inspection.

•5.      Services shall include disposal of excavated compacted fill and rock.


 Tank Farm grounding ring per attachment 4 in accordance with attachments 5 and 6 and the notes below.


 •1.       Grounding ring shall be #4/0 bare ground cable buried 36" below grade.  Services shall include connection of grounding ring to existing grounding conductor buried below the trench.

•2.      Connections between grounding / bonding conductors shall be irreversible (crimped or cad welded).

•3.      Provide two pig tails, no less than 5', at the centerline of the road trench (one at the trench and one at the north wall of the tank farm).

•4.      All other grounding work is excluded. 

•5.      Grounding conductors, conduits, bus bar and jumpers shall be installed to miss all footings and existing buried conduits.

•6.      Services shall include disposal of excavated compacted fill and rock.


 Aggregate base placement in accordance with attachment 1 and the notes below.
