Question and Answer 6/18/2014
Question:
Can the non-merchantable material (woody debris) be wasted over the fill slope (East Side of the FDR).
If not, is there a designated staging area for this material to be dumped at on USFS land?
Is the intent for the contractor to remove everything from public lands?
Answer:
They could chip the material and blow it over the road on the east side. The Forest Service do not have a place for the material on forest service land and it is the intent for the contractor to remove from public lands. It may be possible to find a place that could be used to dump wood chips if they were run through a chipper (this would have to be negotiated). Also after checking with our specialist on chipping, just to make sure everyone is aware, the recommendation is that it is OK to chip and throw across the road but the contractor cannot create large piles of chips and when scattered the depth has to be 4" or less.
