Job Specific Skills Training (JSST) with Job Placement and Job Retention
The Philadelphia Workforce Development Corporation is soliciting bids from organizations to provide services to Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) recipients in the following programs:
Job Specific Skills Training (JSST) with Job Placement and Job Retention services for TANF participants. These programs are designed to enable participants to obtain specific job skills, improve basic math and literacy skills, and rapidly attach participants to employment once training is completed. Combinations of remedial education with vocational skills training or work activities and/or job readiness or career exploration are considered effective program offerings. Education activities that teach language and math skills in the context of a particular vocational skill (skill specific literacy) are key to the operation of a successful training program that enable rapid attachment to the workforce within the timeframes established. The length of time participants can spend in vocational educational training is twelve (12) months in a lifetime.
