Ice Skating Rink Operation Services
The Department of Recreation and Parks (Department) is initiating this Request for Proposals (RFP)
to obtain proposals from experienced, responsible firms to install, maintain, operate and manage an
outdoor ice skating rink, ice skate rental services, and provide ice skating talent for the opening
ceremonies of Downtown On Ice. The selected proposer will build and operate the outdoor ice skating
rink and provide adequate staff to operate it seven days a week during the Downtown On Ice event.
Proposing firms and key personnel must have a minimum ten (1 0) years of experience in ice skating
rink installation, maintenance, operation, management services and provision of talent as required for
public agencies or other large organizations.
The Department intends to award a contract to the selected proposer for one (1) year, with two (2) one
( 1 ) year renewal options exercisable at the sole discretion of the General Manager. Compensation will
not exceed $279,000 per year, and total compensation over three (3) years will not exceed $837,000.
The contract awarded through this RFP shall be subject to hnding availability and to early termination
by the Department, as provided in the Standard Provisions for City Contracts (Rev. 3/09) (Exhibit A).
The Department reserves the right to withdraw this RFP at any time without prior notice and the right
to reject any and all responses to this RFP. Proposers are welcome to submit multiple submissions in
response to this WP. The rejection of any or all submission in response to this RFP shall not render
the Department liable for costs or damages. The Department makes no representation that any
contract will be awarded to any entity responding to this RFP.
