The Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation (ECHDC), a subsidiary of the New
York State Urban Development Corporation d/b/a Empire State Development
Corporation (ESDC), is seeking to retain a Design Team to design a year-round outdoor
public environment in the City of Buffalo, New York (the "Project"). This project includes
a series of public spaces and facilities related to Canal Side, a proposed mixed-use
waterfront area on the site of the former Memorial Auditorium. The selected consultant
team will include all design and administrative disciplines required to complete the
Project. ECHDC has decided to go out in a traditional Design, Bid, and Build process in
order to complete this aspect of the project.
The Public Canals scope includes: the Canal environments (west of Main Street);
pedestrian bridges, special water features (and their integrated structures); and other
public spaces. The minimum sustainability goal of the project is to attain LEED
certification.
