Garnet Gulch Road: This project consists of reconstructing approximately 4200ft road. The existing road was originally pioneered but not completed. The work includes but is not limited to excavation and embankment, clearing and grubbing, culvert installation and replacement, aggregate surfacing (Item 32401 Additive Item), erosion control and dewatering.

Garnet Panel Excavation: This aspect of the project consists excavation, haul, and stockpile garnet bearing gravel. The panel locations are within a riparian zone, as a result soft soils are anticipated. The involved will include but not limited to dewatering & erosion control, excavation and stockpile of topsoil, overburden, and garnet bearing gravel. The site will require special track mounted dump trucks to remove garnet bearing material from the riparian area. Swamp mats (Crane Mats) are a requirement of this contract to allow excavation equipment floatation on riparian soils. The Swamp mats will be government property upon completion of the project.


Additional Item - 281 Gulch Stream Restoration: This aspect of the project consists of relocating the existing stream channel to a more natural alignment, by the addition 1300 lineal feet of meanders and grade control weirs. This includes but is not limited to dewatering, excavation of new stream channel, furnish and install 6" minus aggregate for weirs.


This project is located at the Emerald Creek Garnet Area in the St. Joe Ranger District of Idaho Panhandle National Forest off of F.S. Road No. 447. The site is approximately 25 air miles South of St. Maries in Latah County; refer to the location map on the title sheet of the plans.


Latitude and longitude at the site is: 47° 0'0.03"N, 116°22'5.07"W


Magnitude of Project (per FAR 36.204(b)): Between $100,000 to $250,000

A pre-bid tour is scheduled for this project on site on June 20, 2019 at 12:00 pm
