The Bureau has determined that petroleum contaminated soil exceeding remedial guidelines is present.
The Department is seeking proposals for excavation and disposal of petroleum-contaminated soil and associated site safety and restoration measures. This work will likely be done in August, 2010.
The Department estimates that approximately 850 cubic yards of petroleum contaminated soil requires excavation and removal from relatively shallow (less than 12 ft.) soils. The Department is requesting proposals (bids) to excavate, transport, and dispose of contaminated soil, backfill/regrade with clean fill, loam and seed/ site restoration.
Dewatering during the excavation may be necessary to access oil saturated soil below the water table, if so, this water will be contaminated. The contractor will dewater as necessary; the Department will provide for treatment and discharge of recovered groundwater.
