The County is soliciting proposals for Histology Services.
The County Sheriff-Coroner requires histology services on some cases to be performed as part of the
process to determine the cause of death. Annually, the County estimates that 250 300 cases require histology services including an estimated 35 40 neuropathology cases.
These services would require, in most cases, a weekly turnaround with pick up of specimens from the Coroners Bureau on an agreed day of the week with a return of the completed paraffin blocks and microscopic slides on that agreed day the following week. Exceptions to the weekly turnaround completion would be for certain special stains that would take a longer time to complete.
