The Maine Department of Health and Human Services is seeking regional proposals for a network of Healthy Maine Partnerships. Funding for this initiative comes from the Fund for Healthy Maine and several federal grants to DHHS.
The goal of this Healthy Maine Partnership RFP is to continue, revise, and expand the work of the Healthy Maine Partnerships (HMP), and to integrate and streamline Maine's coalition-based efforts addressing the publics health. The HMP RFP will fund two important components of an emerging statewide public health infrastructure: a statewide network of comprehensive community health coalitions; and Regional Coordinating Councils (to be phased-in). Comprehensive community health coalitions are expected to effectively address the important public health issues of tobacco, substance abuse, physical inactivity, poor nutrition, and chronic diseases (cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, asthma, and other chronic lung diseases). They are also expected to deliver components of the ten essential public health services.
