Health Maintenance Organization
CalPERS is soliciting Proposals for a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO)product consisting of statewide coverage, regional coverage, or some combination thereof. This RFP could result in multiple contracts based on various combinations of statewide or regional HMO Plan(s). The Health Benefits Committee and the Board of Administration will determine at the end of the RFP process what combination of HMO Plan(s) is the best interest of CalPERS and its members.
The RFP will consist of a two-phase approach. Within Phase 1 of this RFP,CalPERS is seeking to identify a pool of health plans that have the capability to
meet these goals and are eligible to continue to Phase 2. Phase 2 will consist of a more comprehensive review as outlined in Section IV.
The term of the agreement(s) shall commence on January 1, 2011 and end December 31, 2013, unless terminated earlier or extended in accordance with
the provisions of the Agreement. Upon mutual agreement, the agreement(s) may be extended for up to two successive one-year periods for a maximum five
(5) year contract.
