The College endeavors to maintain a high quality, comprehensive health and wellness insurance plan that offers choices and promotes
wellness for our 380 fully benefitted employees. As the college is partially funded by taxpayer dollars it is our responsibility both to find
the right plan and to negotiate the best possible terms on behalf of the college. The plan shall go into effect at the beginning of our next
fiscal year, starting July 1, 2010. We are seeking to engage a specialist to help us with the following projects at a minimum:
1. Evaluate self-insurance options versus fully insured plans and make a recommendation on plan feasibility.
2. Assist the Benefits Committee in developing a progressive and comprehensive health plan that incorporates wellness, medical,
dental and vision and other options for the employees.
3. Compare and contrast the universe of insurance strategies in terms of services and price; including the costs of available
alternatives such as co-pay amount, deductible, out of pocket maximum, network vs. out of network providers, and percentage of
covered expenses.
4. Serve on the college selection committee as an advisor to assist with selecting the insurance carrier and third party administrator as
necessary.
5. Advise the college on the strength of relevant insurance carriers with respect to service expectations, financial strength, ease of
use, etc.
6. Assist the college as necessary in the negotiation of plan terms and rates with at least one selected vendor.
7. Assist the college with delivering effective communication track to its employees: written communication, employee meetings, etc.
8. Advise and assist where necessary with the transition from our existing insurance plan to a new plan if applicable.
