Healthy Texas is a new public/private health insurance initiative that will provide lower-cost health insurance to uninsured Texans within the small employer market. Healthy Texas has the potential to provide insurance to a significant number of the almost 6 million Texans currently without health insurance.
Healthy Texas is targeted at those small employers that have not offered health insurance coverage to their employees in the last twelve months, allowing the state to use limited public funds to increase health care coverage among workers who have not previously had the option to purchase employer sponsored health insurance.
The Division will oversee, coordinate and facilitate all activities related to the management of the Healthy Texas program. The Division will monitor Selected Respondent(s) to ensure compliance, assess performance, determine satisfaction, and ensure all services required of the Selected Respondent(s) are provided efficiently and effectively. The Division is committed to providing the necessary support to ensure that the program functions smoothly. The Division intends to monitor enrollment and financial experience in the Healthy Texas program so that the risk of insufficient funds to the health plans is minimized.
The Division will work with Selected Respondent(s) to ensure timely processing and approval of all required forms within the timeframes necessary to meet target implementation dates.
