Hazmat Management and Disposal
Non-mandatory pre-bid meeting 05/12/2010.
Contractor shall provide the following services:
1. Removal illegally dumped wastes and clean-up of abandoned waste sites as requested and
authorized by the City.
2. Collection, containment, transport and disposal of illegally dumped and abandoned wastes.
3. Identification of unknown chemical products and wastes, and segregation and packaging of
collected materials by hazard characteristic according to USDOT regulations, 49 CFR part 171 et
seq.
4. Chemical release emergency response support and site clean-up (excluding first responder
activities, fire fighting, public safety enforcement, or any activity in which there is imminent or
uncontrolled danger to responders).
5. Segregation and packaging of known chemical products and hazardous and non-hazardous
wastes and initial transportation for ultimate disposal according to state solid waste rules and
USDOT regulations.
6. Collection, packaging, management, transportation and disposal or reclamation of radioactive
materials or instruments containing radioactive materials or sources (in non-life-threatening
forms or intensities)
7. Management and oversight of sub-contracted services for transport, treatment and disposal of
hazardous and non-hazardous wastes according to the Resource Conservation Recovery Act
(RCRA) regulation, plus discarded substances subject to other state and federal waste
management and recycling requirements.
8. Local transportation within the state and metro-area of hazardous and non-hazardous materials
for bulk storage, use, reclamation or disposal.
9. Management and oversight of sub-contracted services for long distance transportation of
hazardous and non-hazardous materials for reclamation or disposal.
10. Hazardous waste generator facility RCRA compliance and waste container management support.
11. Small quantity handler universal waste storage area management support including packaging
and transport of wastes in bulk.
12. Asbestos containing materials collection, containment, transport and disposal (excluding actual
site remediation).
13. Mold impacted materials removal, collection and disposal.
14. Non Routine Removal, transport and disposal of biological and infectious wastes including feces
and bodily fluids, used sharps and contaminated materials. Routine removal is covered by a
separate contract.
15. Collection, containment, transport and disposal of dead animals and pests (excluding actual pest
management and extermination)
16. Mercury spill site stabilization and clean-up.
17. Clandestine drug laboratory initial stabilization and hazardous materials removal, segregation
and packaging.
18. Management and oversight of sub-contracted services for laboratory analyses of environmental
media, wastes, and construction media and debris.
19. Management and oversight of sub-contracted special services including but not limited to
infectious waste management, recycling of petroleum products, metals reclamation, etc
20. Management and oversight of sub-contracted special trades including but not limited to
electrical, carpentry, plumbing, paving.
21. Wastewater and sludge pumping and containment.
22. Management and oversight of sub-contracted services for wastewater pre-treatment and
discharge, and wastewater and non-wastewater treatment and disposal.
23. Petroleum spill clean-up on soils and water bodies plus ability to sub-contract for specialized
spill response and clean-up services. (I.e. deployment and maintenance of floating booms, oil
skimmers, etc.)
24. Hazardous materials and petroleum product spill site stabilization and clean-up on streets, alleys,
and gutters.
25. Non Routine Storm water and wastewater interceptors and grease trap waste removal and
overflow clean-up. Routine removal is covered by a separate contract.
26. Confined space entry for hazmat removal and cleaning of interior vaults.
27. Soil, groundwater remediation system installation, monitoring and maintenance, including boring
and well installation and abandonment.
28. Primary grounds care and landscaping (mowing, snow removal, storm water pumping), building
or equipment maintenance assistance (filter changing, tank cleaning) incident to RCRA generator
facility compliance, and trenching, paving, berming and excavation incident to spill and
remediation site management operations.
