The Department of State Health Services (DSHS) announces the expected availability of calendar year (CY) 2007 state and federal funding to provide individual, group, and community level HIV prevention interventions to persons at greatest risk for acquiring or transmitting HIV; the populations and interventions that will be supported with these funds have been identified as priorities through a community- driven planning process and also reflect departmental program priorities. The goals of this Request for Proposal (RFP) are to promote science-based interventions with demonstrated effectiveness in reducing risky behaviors, to increase access to HIV testing, to provide HIV prevention services to HIV positive individuals, and to focus interventions in the areas of greatest need and where there is capacity to successfully implement them. This grant period will be year one of a five-year project. Projects are expected to start on or about September 1, 2007
