H&E STAINED SLIDES
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation and a separate written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation number is RFQ-NICHD-19-141 and is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ). The solicitation /contract will include all applicable provisions and clauses in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2019-03. The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) Code is 541380 with a size standard of $15.0M. This acquisition is being conducted using Simplified Acquisition Procedures in accordance with FAR Part 13. The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Digestive, Diabetes & Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) has a requirement to procure H&E-stained slides of mouse brain sections.
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a common neurodegenerative disease, caused by pathogenic aggregation of amyloid-β (Aβ) peptides and tau proteins in brain tissue. Aβ aggregation is believed to precede and cause tau aggregation. No effective preventions or cures for AD have been demonstrated to date. The overall objective of this work is to test a possible prevention of AD through experiments on transgenic AD model mice. The specific objective is to obtain slides of immunohistochemically stained brain sections from 3xTg-AD mice that have received intra-ventricular injections of fibril-seeded polyacrylamide microspheres, as well as mice that have received injections of unseeded microspheres and mice that have not received injections (as experimental controls). These slides will be used by NIDDK and collaborators to quantify the effects of treatment on Aβ and tau aggregation in brain tissue.

The offeror must include a completed copy of the following provisions: 1) FAR Clause 52.212-1 Instructions to Offerors - Commercial items; 2) FAR Clause 52.212-2, Evaluation - Commercial Items. As stated in FAR Clause 52.212-2 (a) The Government will award a contract resulting from this solicitation to the responsible offeror whose offer conforming to the solicitation will be advantageous to the Government, price and other factors considered. The following factors will be used equally to evaluate offers: Technical Evaluation, Price, and Past Performance. The Government will make award based on Best Value.
