The foundation will award funds through its 2011 grant program in the categories of research, education, and patient service. Seeks to target key areas in the field of children's brain cancer research and patient services that are underfunded.
The foundation provides grants for brain cancer research projects or studies that are designed to advance the treatment, cure, outcome, and etiology of pediatric brain cancer. The foundation's particular interest is in the initial funding of projects that are likely to generate data that can be used in larger-scale projects or studies. International applicants are welcome to apply for research funding.
The foundation also awards grants for patient services that are focused on making the lives of children with cancer and their families a little easier, and for educational programs that will raise the awareness of brain cancer and increase knowledge of patient treatment or options. For patient services and education funding, preference is given to organizations in areas where the funds were raised, predominantly in the Mid-Atlantic region.
The foundation accepts for review all grant applications submitted by accredited researchers, medical facilities, research institutions, or patient service programs that specifically address pediatric brain cancer issues. No grant money for salaries will be considered.
