Gallery Strategic Planning Services
The awarded Contractor shall provide a detailed gallery strategic plan which includes the following:
1. Relevant institutions/exhibition research a process shall be recommended to engage IEI in examining
and researching interactive galleries which are relevant to IEIs programs of work. In order to better
understand how IEI will shape and develop its gallery, the awarded contractor shall research and
understand relevant institutions and exhibits. The contractor shall communicate findings in a clear and
concise narrative research report. From the examples provided in the research report, several will be
chosen for in depth study. The contractor shall accompany the IEI team on tours of the most relevant
exhibits and provide a briefing packet with exhibition profiles to prepare the group for visits.

2. An interpretive plan an underlying narrative for the exhibit shall be developed. The narrative shall be
a substantive and contextual narrative ready to use to hire an Exhibit Designer. An initial committee
meeting has yielded core content and themes desired for the gallery. The interpretive plan shall develop
in great detail these core themes and be used as the framework for the exhibition designers and
scriptwriters. The interpretive plan shall bring together the core themes and content areas to be explored
in the gallery in a way that will maximize each visitors experience.
3. Operations and financial planning preparation of an operations and financial plan to assess the impact
of the gallery on the IEI annual operating budget. Operations include staffing, programming, rentals for
special events and other functions, additional opportunities for earned income, collections/loaned objects,
etc. Financial planning shall include projections of attendance by segment, revenue, and expenses. These
projections will allow IEI to assess the impact of the gallery on its annual operating budget. The
operations and financial plan will be written in narrative format as well as present a proposed budget for
all activities.
In summary, the chosen contractor will deliver a detailed gallery strategic plan in narrative form which
includes the above components and will allow IEI to proceed to gallery exhibition design and program
development with a clear understanding of what the gallery will and will not do and the content,
operations, and financial framework to inform future decisions.
