GPS Modem support
The City is requesting proposals for furnishing GPS Modem support, maintenance and
troubleshooting of the existing System. This shall include collaboration with the wireless
service carrier (AT&T) and the modem manufacture, CalAmps. The Proposer shall
provide these services across three (3) Departments as specified previously. The City of
San Diego reserves the right to increase or decrease the size of the fleet as needed to meet
the Citys operational needs any year. Paramount to the requirements of this RFP is to
maximize the operational status of modem communications, minimally 95% up time,
preferably 99%.
The City is in the process of refreshing the entire fleet with new Calamps LMU-4100
GPS Modems. About 6% of the fleet has already been outfitted and the City expects to
reach 100% during the initial phases of a contract resulting from this RFP.
