The Black Oak Forest Health project consists of mistletoe removal and vegetation restoration in black oak woodlands. Treatments within the black oak stand will include: felling of heavily infected mistletoe trees and bucking of logs between 3' and 6' in length for firewood sales; thinning stumps to 3-4 stems per stump; pruning of entire limbs of trees that are moderately infested and that are eligible for cutting less than 50% of the crown through limb removal; and pruning of mistletoe shoots from those less infested trees and from those trees where limb removal would cause greater than 50% of crown removal.
