The City is contracting for the services of a financial advisor due to the size, the complexity, and the number of the bond issues and loans the City handles on a regular basis. The City has a history of working with several underwriting firms as well as the New Mexico Finance Authority. In general the City has used underwriting firms that have an office in New Mexico, or otherwise have special expertise or knowledge of municipal finances. The financial advisor is not required to have an office in New Mexico. However, it should be shown how services will be provided in a timely manner if the firm is located in another state.
