The West Rocksbury VA Medical Healthcare System intends to negotiate on a sole source basis pursuant to FAR 6.302 1 Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements with Doric Lenses or its authorized dealers for the purchase of a Doric (Name Brand) Photometry System
Description of Requirement: Doric Lenses Fiber Photometry Equipment is used in Fiber photometry, which is an increasingly popular and cutting-edge technique in the neuroscience field. This technique utilizes genetically encoded calcium indicators (GCaMP, RCaMP, etc.) to record the neural activity of defined subpopulations of neurons through an implanted optic fiber. This provides a powerful means to understand the temporally specific signaling/activity of these neuronal subpopulations in targeted brain regions in freely behaving animals, allowing a determination of their role in encoding information about salient stimuli during task performance. The requested systems will provide all necessary components to allow photometry measurements of two independent fluorophores in two distinct brain regions.

This Notice of Intent is NOT a request for competitive proposals. Parties may identify their interest, accompanied by supporting literature, to the Contract Specialist no later than August 16, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Responses should be sent to Mary.Bosch@va.gov. Information received will determine whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The determination to conduct a competitive procurement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer.
