The work generally consists of installing 5,300 lineal feet of fiber optic traffic signal
interconnect system via directional boring and additional closed captioned cameras
(CCTV) along the northern end of Rancho Santa Fe Road to provide traffic surveillance
and signal timing coordination along this corridor. In addition, the project includes work
within the Caltrans right-of-way which consists of installation of fiber optic cable within
the existing Highway 78 overcrossing, relocating the existing westbound ramp traffic
signal cabinet to the north side of the interchange and installing new conduit and
conductors for the westbound ramp signals.
