The North Carolina Department of Commerce, Marketing Division, hereinafter referred to as Division, is seeking a highly qualified and competent event planning company, hereinafter referred to as Vendor, to organize the 32nd ANNUAL JAPAN-U.S. SOUTHEAST AND SOUTHEAST U.S./JAPAN ASSOCIATIONS JOINT MEETING. This high-profile international conference brings together members of the Japan-U.S. Southeast Association and the Southeast U.S./Japan Association (SEUS); North Carolina is one of the founding members of the latter organization. 31 Annual Joint Meetings have been held since 1975, with the venue alternating between the United States and Japan. When held in the United States, the meeting venue rotates among the SEUS member states. The meeting was last held in North Carolina in 1994. The SEUS conference provides opportunities to promote trade, investment and cultural understanding, as well as to establish and renew relationships with key leaders in Japan and the Southeast region. The conference attracts over 500 participants from the U.S. member states and Japan, including representatives of private and public sectors including state governors. The proposed venues for the SEUS/Japan 32nd Annual Joint Meeting are the New Raleigh Convention Center, the Marriott Raleigh City Center and Sheraton Raleigh, all located in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. However, the Division reserves the option to change the location to a different region from the slated region.
