The Maine Department of Professional & Financial Regulation, Bureau of Insurance invites bids for the provision of all qualified personnel, materials, and services for conducting reviews and evaluations of certain mandated health insurance benefits proposed by the Maine Legislature. Mandated health insurance benefits require coverage of specific health services, specific diseases, or specific categories of health care providers. Each study must address the criteria outlined in Maine law (Title 24-A MRSA 2752) including the social impact, financial impact and medical efficacy of mandating the benefit, and the effects of balancing those considerations. A copy of Maines mandated benefit law, Title 24-A MRSA 2752, which describes the required evaluation for mandated benefits, is attached. The Bureau may request as an alternative an estimate of the premium impact of a specific mandate as required by subsection 3(B)(6) of the law.
