USDA-FNS seeks a contractor to design, conduct, and report on a rigorous and robust evaluation of the operations and impact of these demonstrations. USDA-FNS released a Request for Applications March 20, 2014 for a new, one-time initiative to fund as many as five demonstration projects. The authorizing legislation requires independent evaluation of each demonstration project using rigorous experimental designs and methodologies to produce scientifically valid evidence of project impacts on food security. The primary outcome of interest for the projects and the evaluation is the change in the prevalence of food insecurity among children. The results will be shared broadly to inform policy makers, service providers, other partners, and the public to promote wide use of successful strategies.
