Equipment, Software and Services for a Computer Laboratory
The City of Alameda invites written proposals from qualified vendors, for the
procurement of Equipment, Software and Services for a Computer Laboratory, for the
Alameda Free Library. This procurement is taking place against the background of a new
central library being built for the City of Alameda. A computer laboratory has been
incorporated into the design for this facility which will open to the public on November
2, 2006.
The laboratory will be multi-function in nature. On the one hand, it will provide access to
software applications for individual members of the public, for their research, education
and recreation needs. Library resources, specialized databases and the internet will also
be immediately available. In addition, the facility will provide a training venue which
may be used by library staff, other city employees or members of the public.
This Request for Proposals provides general information to vendors on bid requirements;
outlines the scope of the AFL project; requires vendors to respond to library
requirements, and bid their products and services as appropriate. The Alameda Free
Library will select only one vendor who in turn will supply all equipment, and services.
