The City is requesting proposals from experienced web designers to provide a turnkey
Environmental Resources (ER) website that will foster greater communication, interaction,
transparency, and understanding between the City and its constituents.

The City’s current website is outdated. However, rather than expand or redesign its current
website at this time, the City desires to take a smaller step to create a new home site for its
Environmental Resource Programs that will be accessed via a new URL—linked from the City’s
main homepage. This will be a concept to completion production, from scoping to information
architecture, design, development, deployment and perhaps support. The overall goal for the
new website is to continue fulfilling the City’s environmental resource management goals, and
meet Federal/state mandates with more organizational control and flexibility in content and
layout.
The new web site will include five subject matter pages/areas: Urban Watershed Management,
Solid Waste Management (Trash and Recycling), Energy Efficiency, Air Quality/Greenhouse Gas,
and Urban Greening. It is desired that each of these subject areas has its own webpage, and
that the entire web site offer interactivity capabilities between the public and City, including
social media functionality. Further, the Urban Watershed Management page must meet state
mandates regarding community based social marketing (CBSM) capabilities. Experience with
CBSM concepts and success in fostering public engagement via web page design is therefore
highly desired.
