Personal financial management has been linked by the United States Marine Corps (USMC) and the Department of Defense (DoD) to many mission readiness issues such as security clearances, stress, suicide, divorce, and retention. Personal financial issues impact individual readiness and can degrade unit readiness and cohesion. Combining sound financial education with psychosocial research to help Marines recognize and respond to the emotional and behavioral aspects of financial management increases the likelihood of improved financial decision making. This project will develop a comprehensive, interactive classroom curriculum to be presented by installation Personal Financial Management Program staff.
